WWE 2K22: 10 Things They Must Get Right
8. The Updates
Those long-term customers aren't going to settle for mediocrity.
2K22 can't have any of those outdated moments mere weeks after release; anyone who has bought these games over the past 20 years knows a thing or two about that. The next WWE release comes out, and...a handful of the wrestlers on the disc are wearing attires or working gimmicks they no longer do on TV.
Obviously, this is tricky for 2K. They do need a cut off point so the game can be printed and shipped, but they don't get a free pass either. Gaming has changed, and it's entirely possible to feed patches and updates to consumers constantly. 2K don't do this - they whisk up a few meagre offerings and then leave Community Creations to take care of the rest.
That needs to change. In 2K22 and beyond, WWE's real-life product must be properly replicated in-game. There's no excuse for out-of-date ring gear, hairstyles or anything else. Though base models can stay the same, the dressing on top cannot.
