WWE 2K22: 10 Things They Must Get Right
3. Behind-The-Scenes Service
WWE Network subscribers can attest that, whilst having every major pay-per-view from WWF/WWE, WCW and ECW history at one's fingertips is nice, it's the in-house documentaries produced that really add value to the service. The recent 24 episode of Edge, and the excellent 'Ruthless Aggression' series are worth the price of admission alone.
They both share one thing in common: WWE's willingness to peel back the curtain.
This could be tough to do in a video game, sure. Up until now, the developers of these games have portrayed matches like real fights rather than scripted struggles that rely on peer-to-peer competition. If implementing some sort of match harmony system is too much (something games have dabbled with when using star ratings), then 2K could let gamers control more of their character's backstage business.
In GM Mode, for example, your authority figure could meet up with Edge to discuss his new t-shirt designs or plans for his comeback. Why not? WWE already let fans in on these moments via the Network. 2K22 would be an interactive extension of that.
