WWE 2K22: 10 Ways To Successfully Reboot The Series

2. A Totally New Approach To Gameplay

SmackDown Vs. Raw
2K Games

This is vital. At this point, the WWE games have a pretty tried and tested gameplay style. Pretty much each year, you hit the same buttons to pull off the same moves, and some sort of overhaul is now necessary to freshen things up. It's not as simple as just switching what does what, though, and new ways to pull off different types of moves could be a big help in rebooting the franchise.

For example, when you're on the top rope, hitting a simple splash could be as simple as hitting the "Square" button on your PlayStation 5 controller. However, if you want to do a Moonsault, then perhaps it will require combinations like "Square" and "Circle." This isn't all that different to games like Mortal Kombat and Tekken, and would add an awful lot to these games.

This might be too challenging for some, but if it's a case of hitting two or three buttons in quick succession to hit a more devastating suplex, then that wouldn't be too hard to master (and would be infinitely more satisfying than one button and a direction). With enough work put into this, it could be a total game-changer - no pun intended - for WWE K22.
