WWE 2K24: 10 Things You NEED To Know Before You Buy

5. Referee Content Is An Unexpected Treat

Hands up who else thought Special Guest Referee matches would be an understated feature this year? Instead, the string of referee-based content 2K has included makes these matches an absolute blast to play, and they didn't limit the mode to having Randy Orton hit RKOs on some folks trying to have a wrestle.

2K24 gives fans the option to either play by the rules or find themselves replaced by a “proper” WWE official, or to say sod that and just cause carnage. That was a great decision from the devs. The ability to play as real refs like Charles Robinson or Jessika Carr is sweet too, because it adds an air of authenticity that was previously missing.

You might not be ready for the depth on offer here.

Of course, you can still just use the mode to put wrestlers in the stripes and see what happens. Everyone from Dakota Kai to The Rock can become a special ref, but there's a humble joy that comes from controlling a veteran like Robinson and stepping into an official's shoes for pressure-filled title matches.

Next year: Guest Timekeeper mode. Only joking.
