WWE 2K24 Review: 9 Ups & 4 Downs

5. New Match Types Are Welcome

2K spent a lot of time hyping up new match types like Ambulance, Casket and Special Guest Referee before 2K24 hit shelves/digital storefronts. Rightly so. Fans have been crying out to see some of these additions for years now, and there's some more good news. They're all fun for different reasons!

Sure, Ambulance and Casket bouts play out largely the same way. Your goal is to stuff an opponent inside then battle it out via a button-mashing mini game to win. The system works well for both, and it's sweet to see the old coffin gimmick get some proper love in a WWE game again.

Gauntlets are shockingly fun too, but it's Special Guest Ref that shines most.

Kudos to the developers for adding in limits on how much trolling you can do mid-match before another official comes out to stop the madness and take your place. Being able to switch that mechanic off is welcome too; switch off if you want to be the worst ref ever, basically.

All of these match types will keep you coming back for more, which is a huge plus.
