Xbox Game Pass: 10 Best Horror Games You Must Play
9. Dark Pictures Anthology: Man Of Medan
If you’re a fan of Supermassive Games’ Until Dawn, or trapping your Sims behind four walls with no toilet, Man of Medan is here for you
The only mechanics the game has are quick time events, and player choice. With this limited scope, Supermassive is able to create a choose-your-own-adventure slasher that has you playing director and actor. There are dozens of different character deaths available, and multiple endings, so the short 4-5 hour playtime can be replayed multiple times to get the full picture of the Man of Medan story—or for your own sick glee at all the creative deaths.
Unlike Until Dawn, Man of Medan doesn’t excel in its single player story, but is brought to life with a fun co-op mode. This means you can communicate with your partner, or stay silent and see how both your decisions play out, adding even more choice to the game. So if you’re feeling a little let down by the single player, try playing online with a friend, or passing the controller for some couch co-op.
Man of Medan doesn’t quite hit the high notes of Until Dawn, but it’s still a fun slasher romp with a mystery to uncover, and hours of different playthroughs to discover.
