Xbox Game Pass: 10 Best Horror Games You Must Play
7. Blair Witch
Bloober Team's Blair Witch is the only sequel that manages to capture the same slow-building dark folk tale aspects of the 1999 film, The Blair Witch Project.
Set in the same Black Hills Forest as the film, Blair Witch sees you take control of troubled former policeman Ellis Lynch, who enters the forest in search of a missing boy with the aid of a flashlight, a dog named Bullet, and a superb 90s phone, loaded with the old Snake and Space Invaders games to keep Lynch entertained—in between bouts of psychological horror.
Blair Witch is built on atmosphere more than gameplay, but there are occasional puzzles that need solved to progress in the story. You might get a little lost at times, but the journey is worth persisting with to experience the whole game start to finish—and what a finish it has. The last 5-10 minutes of the game will make your stomach churn in horrible anticipation of what's to come.
With more than one ending available, and a short runtime, Blair Witch is great to replay. Once you've recovered from the first ending, of course.
