Xbox Game Pass: 12 Massively Underrated Games You Must Play

7. Resident Evil Revelations 2

Sure, Resident Evil is back as top-dog in the horror genre at present, but back a couple of years it was dire straits. Still, this 2015 spin-off worked hard to address several major criticisms being thrown at the main series.

Weirdly enough though, nobody seemed to care.

By grounding the story into a simple premise, featuring characters stranded on a creepy island filled with gnarly creatures and decrepit locations, the creators brought atmosphere and genuine chills back into the games.

Also, a much-criticised element from other entries was the co-op, yet here was completely reworked into a unique package with a dynamic necessity placed on teamwork; making one member vulnerable but insightful, while the other the tough gun mule. It leads to nail-biting scenarios and clever puzzles, with both players reliant on each other in a tense manner.

The voice acting and character work were much improved, with a solid attempt at elevating the one-note cheesy leads into believable human beings. The plot itself is not bad either, even if it all just adds up to some nutty antagonist behind it all, getting there is an intriguing mystery-laced journey with some involving twists.

It does all this in a gripping 10-hour campaign, satisfying if played solo or co-op. It’s a shame brand fatigue made most skip this one, making it likely the most underrated title in the series.
