Xbox Scarlett: Every Major Rumour & Leak You Need To Know
2. Microsoft STILL Isn't Interested In Virtual Reality
Despite Sony releasing their PSVR unit back in October 2016 and the VR market as a whole slowly but steadily growing, Microsoft has opted not to introduce their own headset into the market for the Xbox One.
And while many are no doubt waiting on tenterhooks to see whether or not they finally make the leap for next-gen platforms, you absolutely shouldn't get your hopes up.
Last summer, Microsoft's Chief Marketing Officer Mike Nichols stated that there weren't any "plans specific to Xbox" in terms of VR, and though plans can always change, a surprise VR announcement just doesn't feel like the right fit for the Xbox ecosystem right now.
With Microsoft on the back foot, they really need to focus on making the conventional gaming experience as appealing and accessible across as many methods as possible. PSVR was a gamble Sony could take because they held a decisive market share, and though it paid off, it could've easily flopped.
Without the install base of the PS4, developing a Scarlett VR headset would be enormously risky, and it's totally understandable that Microsoft would focus instead on refining aspects of typical gaming that they're more accustomed to.
That's not to say the entire next generation of gaming will pass without a Scarlett headset, but it won't happen until Microsoft has clawed back a decent chunk of their market share.
