Xbox Series X: 10 Worries Microsoft NEED To Address
9. They NEED To Focus More On Gameplay
When Microsoft demo one of their key franchises on-stage, it's often one we're already accustomed to. Halo, Gears of War, Forza, much of the gameplay demonstrations are focused around these titles.
With all three of these properties now growing tiresome, the quest for new ideas and IPs has often been a slow burn.
This is something they really can't afford when Sony and Nintendo are constantly building excitement through their own franchises year after year, be they new or old. New franchises have made their debut, but they're often relegated to rendered marketing material that doesn't do much to describe what the games are like or why people should get excited.
This trend continued with the Xbox Games Showcase last month. With just two new AAA IPs with Everwild and Avowed, both of which portrayed through CGI trailers, Microsoft needs to be more precise in how it shows off new projects. It's been discussed that Everwild is still rather experimental, with developer Rare tossing around several gameplay ideas.
Graphics and art style can look great in promotional material, but with many Xbox exclusives having fallen by the wayside, the brand will need to go the extra mile to get fans on board.
