The Sony high-horse came crashing down HARD with the release of the PS3.

Most third-parties had already flocked to the Xbox 360 (releasing a year previously), plus Sony's machine was overpriced, complicated to develop for, and... were where the games?

The launch line-up was dire with a roster containing unexciting multi-plat sports games (Madden NFL 07, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07), janky third-person action (Genji, Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom) and, probably the most forgettable COD entry ever (Call of Duty 3).

Ridge Racer 7 and Need for Speed Carbon weren't bad but were hardly system sellers. The sole highlight in retrospect was Insomniac's under-appreciated Resistance, which has since grown into a cult classic, but at the time was dismissed as a weak attempt to replicate Microsoft's FPS magic.

Years later, when the PS3 ended its run, the brand becomes synonymous with incredible first-party exclusive games, but it was a rough road getting there... and this launch line-up spells that out in blunt text.
