Xbox Vs PlayStation: Ranking EVERY Launch Line-Up From Worst To Best
6. PlayStation 4
Launch Date: 2013
Notable Games: Knack, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Resogun
The PS4 skyrocketed Sony back to top spot of the console race, with their machine a flashing beacon of exclusive triple-A single-player games as a storm of multiplayer and F2P took precedent over the generation.
From the average launch line-up though, you'd be hard-pressed to guess it would be so groundbreaking.
Their sole first-party exclusives were Knack, a dud attempt at creating a new PS mascot, and Killzone: Shadow Fall, a fairly forgettable stealth/shooter spin-off... but hey, at least it showed off the tech's mouthwatering capabilities.
Then you had some sports titles (FIFA 14, NBA 2K14), extremely average cross-gen FPS's ((Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts), and slick, if unremarkable, ports (Assassins Creed: Black Flag, Injustice: Gods Among Us).
More impressive was Sony's new emphasis on bringing interesting indie content to gamers, with Contrast, Trine 2, Sound Shapes, and Resogun, all launching day one. None are really system sellers though.
It was an average line-up that displayed that the PS4's early success was more likely due to Xbox One's epic launch failure than an irresistible collection of must-play titles.
