This one is truly weird. Apparently, some players have reportedly been able to speed up loading times, or skip them entirely in some cases, simply by pressing the Caps Lock key. In some cases, this technique has completely bypassed the game's Mission Complete screen, immediately returning the player to base. How it works? No idea. In other cases, the game has completely crashed as a result, or it's drastically effected the game's functionality, rending it completely unplayable. According to the developers:
Hitting the key, through a Rube-Goldberg-esque series of events, forces all outstanding load requests to be filled immediately in a single frame. This causes a massive hitch, and potentially could crash the game. If you dont care about those adverse effects the synchronous load is faster.
So, while I can't recommend it, it's certainly something to keep in mind if you ever find yourself in a desperate situation, needing to save your game as quickly as possible. I can't imagine what would possibly require such immediate attention, but at least now you know you have the option.
