Yakuza: Why Everybody Loves Goro Majima
1. He Doesn't Care What Other People Think Of Him
Majjma said it best when he told Sagawa he was going to live crazier than anyone and he definitely stuck to it. By the end of Yakuza 0, we begin to see him develop into the crazy Majima players are used to from the previous games. He goes from level-headed manager of The Grand to a character who does whatever he wants, without any concern for the consequences.
Majima has the incredible ability to do what he wants without fear of judgment and when he does receive judgment, he honestly couldn’t care less. Whether that’s about the clothes he wears or how he likes to spend his time, Majima simply doesn’t care about anyone else’s opinion. It’s an enviable trait to say the least and it makes him a really fun character to play as because you get to experience his way of thinking through him.
By the end of Yakuza 0 he changes his clothes, his hairstyle, he stops doing what people tell him to do and things begin to change for the better. This change in character also explains some of the brilliant Majima moments from games that come later, chronologically speaking. The character development is great to see and his choice to live freely is what makes Majima such a fan favourite. His dedication to living crazy makes him a truly great character to play as.
