Zelda: Breath Of The Wild: 10 Best Overworld Bosses

9. The Stolen Heirloom's Yiga Blademaster

The Yiga Blademaster isn’t exactly classed as an overworld boss. A more powerful enemy than the Yiga Footsoldier, the Blademaster uses the Wind Cleaver to create devastating strikes upon Hyrule’s hero. The Wind Cleaver also creates gusts of air that can take Link off his feet.

This particular Blademaster, however, appears after completing a string of side missions in Kakariko Village. Someone steals the shrine orb from Impa’s house, and Link must find the culprit. Link follows the guard Dorian into a nearby forest, where he discovers Dorian is an ex-Yiga member turned informant who told the Blademaster where to find the orb.

Now that the Blademaster has the orb, he has no use for Dorian and feels killing the Champion of Hyrule would be hitting two birds with one stone.

The Yiga Blademaster is a formidable foe, and can easily land one-hit kills on players who haven’t invested in Heart Containers. Blademasters are surprisingly quick, so players must be swift to defeat this agile antagonist.

Not only is the battle a modest challenge, but it also leads to some great world-building about the Yiga clan. Dorian confesses the group killed his wife he tried to quit; he only became an informant to protect his children. Who knew the bumbling Master Kohga was so dastardly?
