10 Recent Horror Movies That Didn't Deserve To Bomb

Despite Samara Weaving being one of the most recognisable scream queens working today, her new blackly comedic horror-thriller Borderline absolutely sank like a stone commercially.

The film, which stars Weaving as a pop star who is terrorised by an obsessive, delusional fan - played quite brilliantly by Ray Nicholson, son of Jack - received broadly positive reviews yet was dumped in just 25 North American cinemas at the start of March while releasing on streaming the very same day.

With distributor Magnet Releasing giving this movie little chance theatrically, it's little surprise that it grossed just $13,847 domestically, while faring better internationally with a still-atrocious $270,857, for a grand total of less than $300,000.

Even factoring in streaming revenues, it's tough to picture this one making a profit on its estimated $5 million budget - a calamitous outcome for a film starring one of horror's more recognisable rising performers right now, with an amusingly unhinged premise to boot.
