10 Amazing Hard Rock Music Videos

1. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

When looking at the greatest music videos of all time, what do you really look for? While some people may define a good music video by its cutting-edge effects or the intensity of the band's performance, it always comes back to how well the images on screen reflect the music being played. Then again, if you ever need to know how to do a music video right, Queen really started it all with "Bohemian Rhapsody."

That statement may seem shocking on first glance, with the video being simply a performance of the band, but the details go much further than that. From the first time you see the members in that iconic symmetrical stance, you know you're in for something out of the ordinary. As the ballad section of the song starts, it seems to be going in a standard performance direction, but things take a drastic turn once the opera section comes in.

As we veer between closeups and mirror images of Freddie Mercury's vocal brought to life on screen, each frame is so beautiful it could be displayed on a wall as art. By the time the track gives way to the heavy section, the viewer is drowning in the bliss of rock and roll, from Brian May's tasty licks to the final ending gong shot from Roger Taylor. "Bohemian Rhapsody" already rewrote the rules of what a rock song could be, but with this accompanying piece of visual beauty, the band had created the idea of the music video as we know it.
