10 Perfect 1990s Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
1. Nevermind - Nirvana
Some of the albums that are called perfect never really happen intentionally. Since some of the greatest acts of all time were in their 20s when they made it, they normally are just trying to make the best with what they have and hoping that it reaches an audience beyond their one scene. As the '90s unfolded though, you couldn't script a better lightning in a bottle formula than Nevermind.
Blowing away all of the hair metal left over from the '80s, Kurt Cobain's immaculate pop ear gave us some of the catchiest rock songs of the decade. Here we had songs that were like if the Beatles were being interpreted by bands like the Pixies or Husker Du, with songs like Lithium having amazing choruses while still having enough crunch to get the rock veterans on board with everything as well.
Along with some more introspective songs like Something in the Way, Nevermind stands less like an album these days and more like a mission statement. From the first cannon blast snare that opens up Smells Like Teen Spirit, the days of the big bad rock stars were about to become a distant memory of the past. The alternative children had finally woken up, and it was time to deliver the message of disaffected irony to the rest of the world.
