In the summer of 2018, Brockhampton were on the way to the top of the industry, with a new album titled Puppy on the brink of release. Just before it could be released, a slate of allegations surfaced against one of the group's key members, Ameer Vann. Shortly after these allegations surfaced the group removed Ameer and released this statement:

"We want to sincerely apologize to the victims affected by Ameer's actions. We were lied to, and we're sorry for not speaking up sooner.

We do not tolerate abuse of any kind. This is not a solution to their suffering but we hope this is a step in the right direction"

This threw the career trajectory of the group completely out of balance, but they have since been able to come back, releasing three singles and the album Iridescence without Vann.

By emerging from this event with a positive message and speaking out against sexual violence, they are setting a good precedent for the music industry and cementing themselves as one of the positive voices for music in the future.
