Meat Loaf: 10 Incredible Forgotten Songs
1. All Revved Up With No Place To Go
Not only Meat Loaf's biggest hit but one of the biggest-selling albums of all time, Bat Out Of Hell spawned several smash singles.
Characteristically long-winded in their naming, You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night), Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad, and Paradise By The Dashboard Light all cracked the Top 40 on both sides of the Atlantic whilst the title track became one of the iconic rock songs.
Yet Bat Out Of Hell was overflowing with tremendous pieces of music. The unsung gem of the album was All Revved Up With No Place To Go, its squealing saxophones perfectly illustrating the testosterone-fuelled frustrations of a teenage sports star.
Ending the first side of the original vinyl, it's visceral and encapsulates the overpowering mix of emotions and hormones millions of teenage boys have felt prowling the weekend streets in search of a way to find a way to release their pent-up mania.
Underpinned by some honky tonk piano from Roy Bittan and the dense yet accessible production work of Todd Rundgren, All Revved Up With No Place To Go deserves to be recognised in the upper echelon of Meat Loaf's work with the established classics on his masterpiece.
