10 Best Football Stadiums In The World

10. The Azadi Stadium (Tehran)

This iconic arena has been the Iranian national football team's home since 1971 - and it has also hosted matches every other week for club sides Esteghlal and Persepolis.

It holds a capacity of just under 80,000 - but its wonder extends further, with it being part of a much larger sporting complex. It is surrounded by a river, swimming facilities, and football training pitches - all adding to its already impressive appearance. The whole site in Tehran is spectacular and, with the stadium at its centre, it is a striking example of Iran's financial power and desire to compete in the world of sport.

If ever there was a stadium that highlighted the growing importance of the Middle East in modern-day football - with the 2022 World Cup being held in Qatar providing a glowing example of this - than the Azadi is it. Just watch out for the Iranian guards with machine guns - they're not quite as easy-going as police forces you'll find elsewhere...
