6. Johnny Unitas

Unitas was the man that took the QB position from just 'passer', to a much more rounded role. He was impulsive, capable of reading defenses better than anyone in the league, whilst also responsible for the widespread usage of the 'Hurry Up' offense. He was the guy that laid the foundations for the modern school of Quarterbacks.

He's perhaps most famous for his role in 'The Greatest Game Ever Played' in which he led The Colts to a 23-17 victory over The Giants in overtime at the 1958 NFL championship Game. A game watched by 45 million people and regarded as one of the defining moments in NFL becoming the household franchise it is today.
