10 Best World Football Transfers Of January 2020 Window

1. Erling Braut Haaland - RB Salzburg To Borussia Dortmund

For a while the most in-demand player in the world, whichever club managed to land the teenage Norwegian prodigy from Red Bull Salzburg would inevitably be seen as the big winners of the January window.

Haaland was strongly linked with a move to Man United, with compatriot Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having handed him his debut as a 16 year old when the latter was in charge at Molde. But he turned down a move to Old Trafford, possibly remembering how a deliberately dirty tackle from United legend Roy Keane ended his father's career prematurely.

Dortmund, however, seems a good fit for the Leeds-born teenager. The club has a demonstrable ability with bringing the best out of young talent, allowing players like Jadon Sancho the chance to shine where elsewhere they might have struggled for a first team place.

With a record of a goal a game in the Austrian league, everybody knew that Haaland had the talent to be a regular scorer wherever he went, but even so his start to his Dortmund career has been nothing short of explosive. A hat-trick on his debut and a total of eight goals across his first four games make him the hottest star in the world right now. He already looks cheap at £17.1 million.

Haaland has admitted that he still has ambitions to play in the Premier League at some point in what will likely be a glittering career. Following recent reports that his Dortmund contract contains a £63 million release cause, it wouldn't come as a surprise to see a few major clubs already wondering whether it would be worth stumping that up sooner rather than later.
