10 Biggest Prospects On The WTA Tour
7. Anett Kontaveit
It took Anett Kontaveit some time to adjust to the differences between the WTA and ITF Tours but her fourth-round appearance at last year's US Open suggested that she was ready to elevate herself onto the world scene.
She was eventually humbled by Venus Williams but she came through three qualifying matches and beat three top-60 players to reach the last 16 - a feat only achievable if you have the desire to make the most of your ability.
Kontaveit had to deal with injury soon after her run at Flushing Meadows but she now has the platform to remain in the world's top 100.
She was unlucky to draw Garbine Muguruza at the Australian Open but in 2016, she has reached at least the quarter-finals in both Shenzhen and Monterrey.
The Estonian hitter is still only 76th in the world rankings but she has at least got herself into the mix and with little ranking points to defend at Roland Garros and Wimbledon, it may not be long before we see the former Grand Slam junior finalist feature in the top 50.
