3. Sergio Martinez vs. Gennady Golovkin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgN3LqQvUbQ Martinez is the WBC middleweight champion and the recognised lineal champion, but many fans feel that WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin is now 'the man' in the division. There's only one way to prove it. 2013 was a breakout year for Golovkin, named Fighter of the Year by RING, following four successful defences of his title, all by way of knockout. The devastating punching Kazakh has the highest knockout ratio of any middleweight champion in history. Martinez has been the king of the division since 2010 after wins over Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams. He has maintained a position as one of the top pound for pound fighters in the world by defeating many of the world's top contenders in the years since. He's a slick southpaw who'd need be on top of his game to elude the lead fisted Golovkin. Despite both fighters operating on HBO, a bout between the pair appears unlikely as the 38-year-old Martinez is on the cusp of signing to fight Miguel Cotto in a June blockbuster event, which could be the last swansong of his decorated career. Golovkin might well have to step up to super middleweight to land the big fights, with Andre Ward and Carl Froch on the horizon.
