Froch v Groves II: 10 Big Things We Hope Happen

2. The Referee Not To Be Controversial

https://twitter.com/NewstalkFM/status/405079269124345856 Imagine if the fight was stopped prematurely again - it would be a disaster - all the hype for six months destroyed because of a reckless decision from the referee Charlie Fitch. A boxer's health is the most important but as the fight is billed as the biggest British fight ever with two titles on the line, Charlie Fitch should let the fight go on unless it is clear as day that either Groves or Froch cannot continue. The million dollar question from the first fight was 'what would have happened if the fight went on 10 more seconds'? In boxing everything can change in a second. A reality check came on 21st September 1991 when the glamour of the entrances and entertainment of the fights ended as Michael Watson faced Chris Eubank. In round 11 Watson floored Eubank with a right hook, similar to Groves's knockdown to Froch: Eubank got up straight away to land a stiff right uppercut and left hook, which ultimately ruined Watson's career and from round 12 he took more punishment from Eubank and as a result suffered brain damage. That's the way a fight can change in seemingly seconds.
