10 Key Stats Ahead Of Newcastle Vs Northampton Town

85 - League Appearances Made For Northampton By NUFC's Chief Scout Graham Carr

Newcastle's current chief scout Graham Carr joined Northampton Town in August 1962 (his first professional club) and captained their reserve side before breaking into their first team. The father of comedian Alan Carr even played 27 times during Northampton's only season in the First Division.

After moving into management in 1977, Carr left Nuneaton Borough in 1985 and became manager of the Cobblers. He then led them to the Fourth Division title in the 1986€“87 season.

However, some of Carr's best players were sold and the club's philosophy changed from being a free-flowing attacking unit to a lot more defensively minded. He was sacked in May 1990 after Northampton were relegated back into the fourth tier.
