10 Key Stats Ahead Of Swansea City Vs Newcastle United

2-2 - Both Sides Drew Their Opening Fixtures By The Same Scoreline

In two of the Barclays Premier League weekend's most-exciting matches, Newcastle United drew 2-2 against Southampton, just as Swansea City did away at Chelsea. The Magpies fell behind to a Graziano Pelle header before Papiss Cisse equalised by chesting the ball over the line and then Georginio Wijnaldum scored a debut goal to put Newcastle ahead. Unfortunately for the Toon, Shane Long came off the bench to nod in a late leveller. As for Swansea, they travelled to Stamford Bridge and left with a point despite twice falling behind. Oscar's free-kick evaded the Swansea defence before Andre Ayew levelled on his debut. However, a Federico Fernandez own-goal put the home side back ahead - only for Thibaut Courtois to see red and Bafetimbi Gomis to equalise from the penalty spot. If Swansea vs Newcastle has half as much action as either of those two games then it should be a cracker.
