10 Man City Players Who Weren't Worth The Hassle

5. Emmanuel Adebayor

Is it really any surprise to see Adebayor's name featuring in a list of this vain? A disruptive influence at every team he inhabits, there has been a very obvious pattern to his time spent at clubs. Starting like a house on fire at Arsenal and Spurs, the Togolese frontman would soon look disinterested, forlorn and frustrate the home support with vapid displays. At Manchester City, it was more of the same from the controversial £24 million striker. Acquired in the summer of 2009 as part of Sheikh Mansour's first summer spending spree, he made a fantastic start to life at Eastlands, scoring in his first four games. It was the fourth game, however, which landed the former Monaco man in hot water with FA authorities. Firstly, he was criticised for sprinting the length of the pitch to gloatingly celebrate a goal in front of a venomous Arsenal support. In the same ill-tempered game, he was adjudged to have stamped on the face of former team-mate Robin van Persie, earning him a three-match ban. Despite this tumultuous incident, Adebayor did enjoy a fruitful first season, bagging 14 goals. From then on, however, it was all downhill for a once-promising Eastlands career. Finding himself frozen out the following season, loan spells to Real Madrid and Spurs followed, which didn't stop his constant moaning at the unfair treatment suffered at the hands of the City hierarchy.
