Upsets do happen in every World Cup, and the tournament never goes quite the way we expect, but one thing has remained consistent over the years: one of the favourites always wins. Unlike the European Championship, which has seen the likes of Denmark and Greece come out of nowhere to claim the trophy, the World Cup has never really seen an underdog go all the way.

Eight teams have won the World Cup in total, with Brazil leading the way with five wins overall. Many players will be heading into the big event believing that they can make their dreams come true, but when it really comes down to it, there are four clear favourites: Brazil, Germany, Spain, and France.

It would be something of a shock if one of those teams didn't lift the trophy on July 15. The likes of Argentina, Belgium, Uruguay, Portugal, and even England have plenty of star players among their ranks, but it'll take some very special performances for any team to overcome the favourites, especially Brazil and Germany, who are the clear frontrunners for the competition.
