For a man that has cost Sunderland an initial £8.1m, 15 goals in 91 games doesn't seem all too inspiring. Though his goal scoring antics during Sunderland's 2013/14 'great escape' pretty much saved the club from relegation,  Connor Wickham has never managed more than 7 goals in a single Premier League campaign.

With Crystal Palace paying £7m for the 22 year-old's services in the current transfer window, Wickham has perhaps one more chance to prove himself as a Premier League player. Though he does have time on his side, the forward may find himself dropping down to a career in the Championship if it doesn't work out in South London.

The Ipswich youth graduate will arguably receive better quality of service at Crystal Palace, with Yohan Cabaye et al providing the quality and creativity that Sunderland often lack. One way or another, this is a huge season for Connor Wickham.
