10. Because He Has A Family
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOKqId4J_0c I know everyone will look at this with a bit of a confused face as to a reason why he should return to the UFC, but hear me out. A big debate surrounded MMA and the UFC earlier in the year highlighting fighter pay. While the UFC was paying paltry amounts to some fighters, it is better money than they will make on any of the other shows. Daley is a bigger draw than most fighters outside of the UFC, due to his record, fight style and the fact he was in the UFC. Most fighters will never reach that peak in their lifetimes. But it's true. The UFC can afford to pay bigger wages than any other promotion on Earth. Whether they do or not is up to them, but a fighter with a reputation like Daley's would certainly be on bigger money than the $8,000/$8,000 basic wages the UFC starts unknown fighters on. During his time with the UFC, Daley was on roughly £26,000 per fight. During his three bouts with the company he earned approximately £80,000 - which for an MMA fighter is a fairly comfortable wage over the course of one year. After paying for all his training camps, management and travel costs that number would significantly lower. Obviously sponsors play a huge part of your wage when you are fighting in the Octagon so Daley's total wage would have been more than what is posted by the UFC. Most British promotions do not have the money to pay for huge names in the MMA industry. Most fighters for Cage Warriors or BAMMA would roughly be on £2,000 to show, £2,000 to win. Daley's stock would be somewhat higher than that, but probably not comparable to the UFC money he was on. As he has a family and responsibilities, as well as a much shorter career than regular folk, Daley needs to make as much money as he can while he is still fighting so he can provide a comfortable life for his wife and son.
