10 Ridiculously Successful UFC Stars With Boring Fight Styles

5. Tim Sylvia

wikimediaFormer UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia wasn't always a boring fighter. In fact, early in his UFC career, during the height of his title run he was fairly exciting, at least for where the UFC heavyweight division was at the time. Standing a towering 6' 8" and tipping the HW scales at 265 lbs, the Maine-iac had an impressive streak of stoppages over such MMA legends as Cabbage Corriera (20-15) and Tra Telligman (7-5). It wasn't really until the rubber match in his trilogy of UFC title fights with Andrei Arlovski that he turned to the dark side. That match was one of the most excruciatingly tedious "fights" of all-time. There's been staring contests where people got hurt worse. They just looked at each other while square-dancing for 25 minutes. And thus began the run of awful Tim Sylvia fights. He followed that up with a crapfest against Jeff Monson, a complacent loss of his title to Randy Couture, and another dragging pattycake bout vs. Brandon Vera. After the Vera fight and a submission loss to Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera, the UFC sent Sylvia packing, where he spent his next several fights trying to test how fast he could lose consciousness. Which was only fitting since he had been causing fans to do so for a while.
