10 Strangest Ever Liverpool Signings

10. Craig Bellamy

It's worth mentioning that Craig Bellamy's entry on this list does not refer to his first spell on Merseyside in 2006, during which he enjoyed a brief, but successful spell, reaching the Champions League final before being deemed surplus to requirements and moving to West Ham.

Bellamy's return to Liverpool in 2011 was a lot more surprising. After all, he had just spent the year on loan at Championship club Cardiff, and while still possessing an eye for goal, injuries had depleted the blistering pace for which he was once known. Still, with King Kenny back at the helm, the Welsh striker didn't think twice about a return to Anfield.

The strangeness of a team hoping to contend for the league title signing an ageing squad player notwithstanding, Bellamy actually outperformed expectations in many ways, and though he featured predominantly as a squad player, the Welshman proved to be a capable hand when he was called upon before signing permanently for Cardiff at the end of the season.
