2. Fighters Not Finding UFC 176 Was Cancelled First Hand
There is usually some controversy, whenever something major cancels. We saw how many fighters reacted negatively after UFC 151 was cancelled. This was relatively quiet for the most part, until Gegard Mousasi spoke up. A long-time veteran and one of the true contenders in the middleweight division, Mousasi was unhappy that he found out that UFC 176 was cancelled through social media. He was never given an indication by the company that it wasn't going to be cancelled. For the UFC not to let their fighters know first hand is unacceptable. These fighters are on strict diet regimes, among other pre-fight game plans. It seems bush league that the UFC would not notify their own employees on what was going to occur. Mousasi deleted his tweet and apologized for his comments afterwards. He appreciated that he was once again headlining an event, which has been the case for all four of his fights in the UFC. Hopefully the UFC learns to notify whoever may be affected before they announce major news.
