10 Things Eric Cantona Wants You To Forget

5. Received A Three Month Ban For A Horror Tackle

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhskAyWlsRg You know the old cliché about forwards being unable to tackle? Well this one takes the cake. Known for his flair, flicks, finishing and finesse, it€™s safe to say that tackling was never King Eric€™s strong point. The perfect example of this is a horror challenge that he got banned for three months for delivering. The horrendous lunge occurred in a 1988 match between Auxerre and Nantes. Cantona jumped into a shocking tackle on Nantes€™ Michel Der Zakarian. What€™s even more €œCantona€ about it is the audacity to actually push another Nantes player in the face when confronted after his crime. Cantona would initially get a three-month suspension from the French Football Federation, although that was cut to two months after Auxerre flat-out threatened to make Eric unavailable for any future national team matches.
