10 Things We Learned From Newcastle 0-1 Mönchengladbach

10. Williamson And Taylor CANNOT Be Newcastle's Defensive Partnership Vs Southampton

This will come as no surprise to the vast majority - if not all - of Newcastle fans out there, but Mike Williamson and Steven Taylor certainly do not make for a Premier League central-defensive duo. In all honesty, Williamson - who is so often the weakest link in the Magpies side - was the better of the pair, with Taylor arguably the worst player on the pitch against Borussia on Saturday. The Geordie defender continuously gave the ball away, got himself booked (slightly harshly) for a silly pullback, and committed foul after foul. Yes Williamson was his same limited self - even if he did dribble through midfield with the ball at one point - but it was Taylor who was the poorest of the two. If Fabricio Coloccini is still unfit by Sunday, which appears likely to be the case, then Chancel Mbemba has to be called upon even in spite of his lack of experience in English football. Taylor and Williamson cannot be allowed to play together in the Premier League - that's for certain.
