10 Worst Harry Redknapp Signings

2. Christopher Samba - £12.5 Million (QPR)

If you want one single reason why QPR not only lost their Premier League place in the 2012/13, but also that year registered losses of £65 million (the highest in England) with a wage bill £17 million more than their entire income, you need look no further than Samba. When Redknapp was brought in to save the club from relegation, he quickly went about employing the same overspending transfer frenzy as he had in the same situation with Portsmouth and Southampton, buying five players in the January transfer window and offering them long contracts and huge salaries to lock them in. In particular, he more than doubled the club's transfer record by spending £12.5 million on former Blackburn defender Samba. With Samba bringing in a massive £100,000 a week in wages, he didn't appear to see much need to expend much effort to earn it. After an appallingly error strewn performance against fellow strugglers Fulham, Samba lashed out at fans' complaints over his enormous wages, telling them to "get over it" and "grow up". QPR weren't just relegated, Redknapp also ended the season with an even worse record than predecessor Mark Hughes. In fact, with 18.75% he has Rangers' worst Premier League win percentage of any manager ever. Samba, for his part, swiftly followed relegation with a move to Dynamo Moscow.
