10. Borussia Mönchengladbach Will Be Licking Their Lips Watching Newcastle

The calibre of opposition Newcastle have faced to date in pre-season has been average to say the least: a middling Conference side (Gateshead), three teams in the third tier or lower in the US football pyramid, a League One club (Sheffield United), and York City who only narrowly avoided relegation from League Two in 2014-15. Newcastle's record from those games? Played six, won two, drawn one, lost three. Yes, this is only pre-season and results are over-exaggerated, but that is not a great return - especially not when it is the defence that is so lacking against lower-league opposition. With Borussia Mönchengladbach arriving at St James' Park on Saturday, Newcastle could be in for a real shock. This is a side who finished third in the Bundesliga last season, behind only champions Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg, and who will play Champions League football in the upcoming campaign. The step up in class will really show where Newcastle are ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
