7. Oscar Robertson Averaged A Triple-Double In 1962...And Didn't Win The MVP Award
Oscar Robertson remains the only player to average a triple-double over the course of an entire season (1961/2), yet unbelievably failed to scoop the Most Valuable Player award. That went to all-time Boston Celtics great Bill Russell, unquestionably one of the best players in NBA history. Despite this, however, it remains one of the most confusing decisions in MVP history. Robertson had dominated for the Cincinnati Royals with his 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 11.4 assists per game, dragging a largely unimpressive team to a playoff berth. He narrowly missed out on repeating the feat the following season, sadly falling short by half an assist per game!
