20 Best Goals of 2012

8. Stoch v Genclerbirligi

Miroslav Stoch, are you Pedro Mendez in disguise? Judging from this, you couldn't be blamed for thinking so. A simply stunning goal coming from the Turkish League. The Czech winger scores an incredible volley from the edge of the area.

7. Modric v Bolton

Luka Modric, ex-Tottenham midfielder, is now rubbing shoulder-to-shoulder with the world's elite at the Bernabau. Signed for a reported £33 million, it's easy to see what Mourinho saw in him with strikes like this. I remember watching this game being broadcasted live, and Bolton were resolute in their defending. This goal is a reminder to everyone that some efforts on goal are just unpreventable. http://youtu.be/XSDZGiD4g0M

6. Beckham v Portland

Again, this is another goal that is demonstrates quality. But what makes is even more so special is because of what it represents. Just days after Stuart Pearce announcing his initial GB squad for the London 2012 Olympics, ommiting David Beckham from the squad, he was quoted to have said his selection was purely for footballing reasons. A week later, after scoring a trademark freekick in the same game, Beckham went one step further and pulled this out of his locker to show he's still got it. http://youtu.be/-QrjrfjNvlQ
