2013 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix Weekend Review - Fernando Alonso Shows Class

Race

From the moment the lights went out, the Prancing Horse bolted. Alonso took control of the race prior to the first stops and never really lost it in real terms, sweeping to his 31st victory ten seconds clear of Kimi Raikkonen€™s resurgent Lotus, ahead of pole-sitter Hamilton for Mercedes, taking third in a plume of smoke from a locked wheel in the final corner as he valiantly held off a desperate Vettel who could only take fourth in a late charge on soft tyres. In a race that comprised a blend of strategy and speed, as expected, it was clear that there is plenty of competition at the sharp end of the field, with five different manufacturers taking the first five places. Throughout the grid various investigations took place with several incidents and more retirements than has been seen here in the last two years combined.
