2019–20 UEFA Champions League Best XI

10. Joshua Kimmich - Bayern Munich

Capable as playing in both central midfield and right back, Joshua Kimmich is fast becoming one of the most versatile and accomplished individuals in world football. Having already amassed over two hundred appearances for Bayern, despite only being 25, Kimmich played in all eleven of Munich's Champions League games.

Arguably the flagship example of the new generation of talent emerging out of Bavaria in recent times, anyone watching Kimmich could easily mistake him for a replica of the legendary Phillip Lahm. Blessed with an acute understanding for the game, Kimmich started out the competition in the DM position but was slowly brought back into right back for the crucial knockout rounds of fixtures.

He scored twice in the competition against Spurs and Barcelona and managed to supply four assists, with all four of these coming in the quarter-final, semi-final and final. His assist for Kingsley Coman in the final, a delicious floated cross across the box, was inch-perfect and the game's decisive point but that shouldn't overshadow the role his two assists against Lyon in the final had in ensuring Bayern even made it to that position.

From a defensive point of view, it's no surprise to see that when Kimmich was moved back to the back four Bayern kept two clean sheets in three games. Undoubtedly the future captain of Bayern Munich, expect to see Joshua Kimmich leading the Bavarian giants to plenty of other triumphs in the years ahead.
