5 Fights For Anderson Silva Should He Beat Nick Diaz
2. Chris Weidman
Reason: To finally silence any doubts, and because Silva deserves it When Anderson Silva first fought Chris Weidman, he perhaps took the bout too lightly. He fought cocky. He fought with his hands low and his chin out. He did his usual dancing, mocking routine. Those antics, while not exactly professional, can make you look like an amazing fighter when they work: look, that guy is so good he's clowning the competition. They make you look like a fool, however, when they fail. Against Weidman, for the first time in years, Anderson Silva failed. He got tagged and knocked out in one of the greatest upsets of all time. And so there was a rematch in December 2013, just over a year ago now. Anderson Silva, it was claimed, would be out for revenge. He'd take the fight more seriously. He'd take back his UFC title. Again, he failed. This time, he wasn't clowning, but he was beat in the first round, and broke his leg in horrific fashion in the second, ending the fight. Some yelled "fluke" while others pointed out that checking the Silva kick as Weidman did, leading to the break, was a skill that had to be learned in the gym. Either way, it put Anderson Silva out for a year, but still there are doubters who suggest that Weidman got two lucky wins against the greatest of all time. A third fight would answer those questions. Silva wouldn't clown around, and the chances of another injury are pretty slim. Dana White has actually stated he would make this fight should Silva defeat Diaz.
