3. Gunnar Nelson vs Erick Silva
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwOGjAj-lQA&list=UUvgfXK4nTYKudb0rFR6noLA Ireland's adopted son Gunnar Nelson continued to impress in Dublin, submitting Zak Cummings with a rear naked choke. It took two round for Gunni to put an end to Cummings, however it didn't always look like a certain. It was a shaky start for the Icelandic fighter, many giving the first round in favour of Cummings. Nelson didn't look comfortable on the feet against the towering Cummings, but there is no doubt that his ground game is phenomenal. Once he took the fight to the ground there was no doubt which way it would go. Nelson has one of the best BJJ skills in Europe and he showed that, calmly working towards the rear naked choke. Once he sunk in the body triangle, it was simply a formality. With Nelson #13 in the Welterweight rankings there are numerous fights he can be matched up with. Names that have floated around are UFC veteran Mike Pyle as well as his original Dublin opponent Ryan LaFlare. Despite various options for Gunni, a fight with #15 Erick Silva could increase his rise to the top. Although Silva is ranked below Nelson he has almost become a gatekeeper of the welterweights. He was originally touted to be the next big thing, however a slew of mediocre performances has stumped his progression. The reason this is the best challenge for Gunnar is that unlike previous opponents, Silva's BJJ is arguably on par. Nelson has always found comfort in taking the fight to the ground with his superior skills, but match him up with someone of equal measure and we will see truly how good Gunnar actually is.
