5 Main Card Predictions For UFC 175

3. Matt Mitrione vs. Stefan Struve

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytmA46SyRvs Weight Class: Heavyweight Welcome back, Stefan Struve. The 7-foot (213 cm) tall "Skyscraper" has been out over a year, suffering first from a broken jaw that occurred during his fight with Mark Hunt, then with a leaking aortic valve in his heart and an enlarged heart on top of that. Heart conditions are scary scary things, and for a young athlete with a lot of miles on him (just 26 years old, Struve has over 30 pro fights), it was career threatening. Many didn't expect to see the fighter back. However, doctors have controlled the leaking valve through medication, and the enlarged heart has been chalked up to "Sport Heart" - which is common in athletes and comes with lower resting heart rates and other symptoms. In other words, with a clean bill of health, Struve (29-6) is (obviously) cleared to fight again. The first opponent back for the Skyscraper, still ranked 12th in the division by the UFC, is Matt Mitrione (7-3), who is coming off a win over Shawn Jordan this past March. This pairing makes the fight the battle of guys knocked out by Big Country in highlight-reel fashion. Struve's been away for a long time, and ring-rust is going to play a big role here. He's also been knocked senseless by the two hardest hitters in the game, Nelson and Hunt, and while Mitrione isn't on their level, he hits hard himself. Skyscraper needs to get this fight to the ground, fast; if not, he's liable to be knocked out for the fifth time in his UFC career. This is where the ring-rust comes in, and when it comes down to a prediction, Mitrione takes this one by first round KO, handing Struve the first losing streak of his career.
