5 Things We Learned From UFC 196 - McGregor Vs. Diaz

4. Ronda Rousey Will Be Champion Again Soon

This isn't meant as a knock against Miesha Tate; it's impossible to not admire her tenacity, professionalism and talent. But we've seen this movie before and there's no reason to think the ending will be different the third time around. There are some fighters who just don't match up well with certain opponents. Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman come to mind. Very few people will objectively say that Weidman is a better fighter than Silva - especially after his terrible showing against Luke Rockhold - but Weidman just had his number, flukes or not. The same applies to Ronda and Tate. Rousey is currently not expected to return to action until late fall/early winter, and while it would make a bit of sense from a competition standpoint to have Ronda and Holly face each other in a contender elimination bout, from a business sense the former champ needs to face Miesha in her first bout back. The popularity of women's MMA lives and dies with Ronda Rousey. She's the sport's biggest crossover star and the promotion absolutely wants her as the face of the division. And when the she and Miesha inevitably locks horns again, barring some unforeseen near-miracle that's exactly what will happen.
