2. Xherdan Shaqiri
Frank Augstein/AP/Press Association ImagesDubbed the Alpine Messi, Xherdan Shaqiri has fulfilled his potential at this summers World Cup. Tipped for big things from an early age, Shaqiri broke into Basels first team at the tender age of 17. Five years on and the winger has become the 50th person to score a hat-trick at the World Cup, firing three past Honduras as Switzerland qualified for the knockout stages of the tournament. Despite earning a move to Bayern Munich in 2012, Shaqiri has failed to assert himself at the Allianz Arena. He has managed 15 goals in 65 appearances, a decent return,
but a lack of starting opportunities has reportedly left him frustrated. It is for that reason that both
Arsenal and
Liverpool are allegedly making moves to bring him to the Premier League, with the two clubs willing to offer Shaqiri a greater number of first team appearances and starts. Although only 5ft 6in, Shaqiri is incredibly strong. He uses his body exceptionally well and his low centre of gravity enables him to dribble out of the tightest situations. Technically gifted and quick across the turf, the Swiss star would make an ideal addition for both Arsenal and Liverpool.
