6 Potential Breakout Stars Of The 2014 FIFA World Cup
3. Kenneth Omeruo
Predicted to be one of the best central defenders in the world in the future, the Nigerian will be looking to add to his already impressive reputation. Just 20-years-old, Omeruo has already won the African Cup of Nations, played in the Confederations Cup and tested himself against some of the best players in the world, but is yet to make an appearance for his parent club Chelsea. The Super Eagles centre-back has made it clear he wants to earn a first team place with the London side after being loaned-out since arriving from Standard Liege in January 2012. Tough-tackling and disciplined, the young African was a revelation at Middlesbrough on-loan last season, only losing 4 matches out of the 14 that he played in towards the latter part of the Championship. At the World Cup the young defender will be looking to issue a warning to boss Jose Mourinho that he can be the man to finally replace captain John Terry at Stamford Bridge.
