6 Takeaways From UFC Auckland

4. Ross Pearson Is Likely Done In UFC

Pearson has been a big favourite of British MMA fans, even before his UFC debut in 2009. At 32 years old it's tough to say he's past his prime. But with four losses in a row, and no back-to-back wins since 2012, it's hard to see where Pearson goes from here. Dan Hooker's reach advantage gave Pearson fits in the first round, though Pearson starting to find his feet in the second.

Just when it looked like Pearson could have some success, his mouth guard was sent into orbit, courtesy of a well placed knee by Hooker. Pearson landed a jab over the top and it was hard to tell whether he was going for the body or trying a takedown, but his head came in low and Hooker timed it to perfection. It was a sad end for Sunderland's finest, who will find it tough to make the case for his next fight being in UFC.
